Beginner Curriculum

1st Quarter / December – February

 First Stripe Testing (Done first week in January)

Basics of parallel stance (10), walking stance (11), parallel ready stance (10), walking stance forearm low block (12), & walking stance middle front punch (13), walking stance knifehand low block (14), walking stance inner forearm middle block (15) – (Volume 8)

Saju Jirugi – Four Direction Punch


Second Stripe Testing (Done last week in January)

Basics of L stance (95), L stance inner forearm block (96), walking stance high punch (145), L stance middle knifehand guarding block (146), L stance twin forearm block (147), walking stance rising forearm block (148), L stance knife hand middle side strike (148), sitting stance (197) – (Volume 8)

Saju Makgi – Four Direction Block


Third Stripe Testing (Done last week in February)

Basics of walking stance outer forearm high side block (198), walking stance straight fingertip thrust (199), walking stance high back fist high side strike (199), walking stance outer forearm high wedging block (200), sitting stance knifehand side strike (201), #1-2 front kick, and #1-2 side kick – (Volume 8)

Step Sparring:

Defender & attacker starts in parallel ready stance. Attacker steps forward in walking stance and punches with right middle punch. All step sparring ends with defender stepping back in “L” stance and guarding block.

01 – Defender steps back using inner forearm block with right “L” stance, left knifehand strike to ribs in left sitting stance

02 – Defender steps back using inner forearm block with right “L” stance, left backfist strike to ribs in left sitting stance

Self Defense:

01 – Same Side Single Hand Wrist Grab pull elbow back and as you bring palm in and rotate up. Then palm strike.

02 – Cross Side Single Hand Wrist Grab (for attacker using right grab defender’s right wrist) rotate hand clockwise with weak link breakaway as you move to your left (opposite for left grab)
